Hi i am on Ibandronic acid tablets and Letrozole, following excision of grade 2 tumour in my breast , axillary lymph node clearance and removal of my ovaries and fallopian tubes which has put me straight into the menopause and i seem to be having constant hot flushes. I was pre menopausl prior to my surgery . Are any supplements safe to use please x

  • Hi

this is quite random but I have been having night sweats - until my radiotherapist advised I take antihistermine for itching…… weirdly I think it’s helped with night sweats. No idea why

someone else will be better help but I think maybe there’s a mild anti depressant  that can help too??

  • Hi Langkawi22

I was told that Evening Primrose Oil helps with hot flushes by my chemo nurse.

  • Evening primrose helped me. It didn’t stop flushes but reduced them

  • Hi I suffer with hot flushes since my cancer treatment started and my specialist has put me on oxybutinin which seems to have started helping a bit and she also told me to take Sage, hope this helps because I know how awful they are x

  • Hi, sorry to hear your hot flushes are awful. My oncologist put me on clonidine tablets (meant fpr blood pressure I think but can help with hot flushes). I also take sage tablets. I’ve been on a cbt course for hot flushes and night sweat via macmillan which helped with mindset. Also, I’ve done hypnotherapy which helped enormously, via future dreams in King’s Cross, London. Basically meds and supplements help a bit but if you can change your mindset, your coping mechanisms are much better. I don’t think they’ll go completely but mine have reduced tons. Good luck x

  • So interesting I just spoke to my lovely breast surgeon who suggested

    liquid sage

    cbt

    acupuncture

as first steps. After that a few drugs to try…….

totally fascinated by the cbt thing - didn’t see that coming at all!

was the future dreams course online??

  • Hi.  I got Fezolinetsnt prescribed privately via my NHS GP.  It was a game changer and night sweats massively reduced.  It is approved here but not on NHS as  but should be by next year.  It’s expensive but for me very worth it x
