Finishing Chemo for Breast Cancer - What next?

Hi, had biopsy of left axilla nodes last April which confirmed Grade 3 invasive ductal cancer with altered receptor status to HER2+, 3+ Had Docetaxel & Phesgo (Docetaxel stopped after 5 cycles) from June to December, when I had Axillary Lymph Node Dissection 2 nodes indicated metastatic ductal carcinoma, and one indicated extranodal spread. I then had 15 cycles of radiotherapy as well as commencing 14 cycles of Kadcyla, which I'm due to finish this November.

I would like to know, can I then resume a hospital free life?  Or am I going to get a surprise in the form of a type of 'maintenance therapy' which has not been discussed with me - sounds daft but I just figured once I'd finished in November that was it apart from an annual mammogram on the remaining boob!

Thanks for your time, Tracey

  • Hi Betty 1966

Sorry to hear that you had breast cancer.   I would imagine that if they were going to give you a maintenance therapy they would have discussed it with you already.

Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of your treatment.

    Best wishes
