Radiotherapy on lymph nodes in armpit

Hello,  since I was 71 when diagnosed with BC and it was a small cancer SLNB was not done.  In US this is common.  When I went for radiation though the radiation oncologist decided to do radiation on my lower nodes in armpit.  He told me very low risk of lymphedema as doing lower nodes.  It has been 2 years post radiation and all is fine.  Had whole breast radiation on both breasts but only armpit radiation on left side as right breast had DCIS only and that does not spread.

How many nodes were taken as this will have an impact on the chances of developing lymphoma x

Hi, I developed lymphoedema in the breast and like you, hadn't been aware of this risk.  You might find this booklet from Macmillan helpful in explaining it a bit more. Best wishes
