Hi

wondering if anyone can advise me on bras. Think I’ve under clubbed it slightly! Only bought one front fastening, then was thinking sports bra or crop tops. I’m pretty small boobed. Nurse just suggested I’d need to be in compression bras for 6 weeks?? Help?!

  • Yep I agree with all you have said and I’m glad you’re doing well. It’s completely a preference thing, after my first lumpectomy I felt like my gym sports bras I already had pancaked me too much, preferred having the shape of the forementioned bras, also I was really sensitive and felt fragile when stripped to wash etc so enjoyed the support and cradling effect they gave me. After going in the second time for a cavity shave op, I’m still in same said bras 24/7 although this time I feel like I could almost move to a regular bra now as I’m not as fragile feeling so will see how it goes. However I can’t imagine getting away with only a crop top ever haha.

Everyone is different, every surgery is different as is every recovery. I’d advise everyone to have a good support bra to at least start off with leaving hospital and take it from there, good support could even be the bra you’re wearing now. Afterwards, it all depends where your scar is, is there swelling/pain/lumps, how much movement you have and so on, will it interfere with dressing, and then just see what you need once you know where a bra will sit. Hindsight as always is a wonderful thing
