Hi, has anyone had problems  with leg pain and weakness.

While having chemo last year I had pain in both legs, when in hospital I had oral morphine. Now I still have pain and weakness and my legs give way sometimes. I now walk with a stick, can not walk for longer than 15 mins or stand for so long.

Thanks for stopping by Slight smile

  • Hi Sharkn121

Sorry to hear that you are having leg pain and weakness. While I haven’t experienced leg pain and weakness I noticed that you haven’t had any replies yet so I thought I’d reply to you anyway. Hopefully someone will be along shortly with an answer for you.

    Best wishes

  • Thank you for the reply. Maybe I'm the only one Thinking

  • Hi Sharron21

i finished my docetaxel in Jan ..no pain in legs as such but sometimes they feel ‘restless’ and I’m quite stiff when I’ve been sat too long or first thing in morning… I put it down to not running like I used to but who knows!
im on herceptin only now so could be that or the early menopause i think im having !! Flushes are the best!!

have you tried some gently yoga? Or some places do oncology based massage which may help?

    Hope it improves x

    Take care x

  • That's sounds like it but mild.  Don't talk about flushes, they are very strange. The  meds can do it too. I'm on the Abemaciclib now and has same side effects as chemo. The only good thing is I don't notice the menopause as I put everything down to the meds.

That's a good idea, thanks Blush

  • Hi I just came on to look for posts about leg pain. I finished my docetaxel 10 April and started radiotherapy last wed. I am in so much pain with my legs. It’s the muscles at top front and then my calves. I can walk a bit but then the pain takes over. I’m going to speak to my oncologist on 14th about it, but at the moment it’s just awful. X

  • Hi, I feel your pain.  I hope they help.

Look at info  for Peripheral neuropathy

I feel that this is what I have. I take painkillers and if I don't they are a lot worse. Sometime it keeps me a wake.

Let me know how you get on

    Take care Slight smile

  • Hi, I also had leg muscle and bone pain following chemo. The bone pain has improved, I still get a bit of muscle pain but I am taking letrozole and Abemaciclib. My vit D levels dropped from 74 to 42 post chemo and I started taking 800 vit D a day. It’s now 72. I don’t know if it’s coincidence but 9 months post chemo leg pain has improved ++.

  • Hi Jmamp, Sharron121 and Shade, when I had leg muscle pain I drank tonic water and it seemed to help. It would be worth checking with your BCN too to make sure there is nothing underlying like a blood clot.
    Wishing you all the best

    Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x

  • Thanks for this I will get some tonic water.
I am going to call as I had clots from PICC line and still have daily injections so probably worth checking x

  • Hope the pain eases soon. Where were the clots you had from your PICC line?
I’ve been breathless for 4 months since I had my PICC line fitted but as soon as it was removed when I finished chemo my breathing became easier. Haven’t heard of anyone else having these problems. I had been sent for chest X-rays and lung CT scan to check for blood clots but nothing major showed up.
