Following double mastectomy 3 years ago (no chemo or radiotherapy) was put on Letrozole for 10 years with VitD suppliment . I've just had conflicting information from pharmacists so am looking for advice.
Normal Vit D dosage has been 400 which is just standard & bought from supermarket but I've just been told by pharmacist that I should be taking 800 . I queried it but she said definitely & that it should be on prescription.
My previous pharmacist said 400 was fine. Who is right? Reluctant to contact breast nurse or GP as they're too busy. Just wondered what others are taking. Any advice appreciated.
Many thanks,
Hi, you could ask your Gp to check your vit D levels by a blood test. When I commenced this cancer journey my vit D levels were 74, therefore I was prescribed 400 of vit D when commenced letrozole. Prior to second iv zometa levels checked again and they had dropped to 48. Over last summer I had avoided the sun during chemo. My vit D was then increased to 800 daily.
