I had believed my surgeon had told me papillary cancer and having read up was reassured that it was not likely to have spread to lymph nodes and was very treatable. On Friday my letter came - and it stated invasive ductal micropapillary cancer. Foolishly I looked it up and terrified myself. I had felt that I had a good chance of beating this but feel the rug has been pulled. As it’s weekend I’m unable to speak to my BCN.this is such a different prognosis and I’m so scared. I know I should wait till after my surgery this Thursday but I’m feeling panic and at a bit of a loss.

  • Hi, I’m really sorry to read that you are anxious, and at the weekend. The MacMillan support line (08082396962) is open until 8pm today. They offer emotional support, and there are BCNs available to talk to also. They helped me a lot. It’s a freephone number. Xx

  • I have the same diagnosis and it’s also in my lymph glands. Don’t panic, ask questions asap . I wish you well.

  • Yes big difference! I have micropapillary as well. I hope you are doing ok Slight smile

  • I just wanted to say, please don’t panic. I don’t have this type and don’t know what this type is, never head of it but having had a type that was deemed the “good type” by consultant and breast care nurses to later be told by oncologists it doesn’t matter what type it’s down to the grade I really wouldn’t worry. The type only really determines the treatment plan it’s the grade that’s detrimental to the outcome/recurrence I got the impression from the oncologist.
