Hi everyone
I had a lumpectomy and SNB 9 days ago.
My armpit is still very sore and tender. I've got no pain at all from where the lump was taken but the area under my "bingo wings" feels sore and numb and is stinging quite a bit.
Is this normal and if it is, when can I expect it to start to feel a bit better please?
Happy Christmas Eve everyone
Hi Mumpsy.....I am due for this procedure in January and feeling rather aprehensive. It must take a few weeks to heal I would think but hopefully others will tell you how it was for them. Hoping the worst is over for you and you can enjoy Christmas. xx
Thank you.
Best of luck for Jan. It's a quick procedure I believe.
Big hug
I had the same op and on day 19. My wound has been fine apart from an initial bleed in the first few days. My node wound and arm have been giving me problems the most A mixture of pain swelling and numbness. I have been on my exercises every 2 hours and back on some pain relief. I also read to try elevating it and massaging cream on your arm to try and get the lymph drainage moving. Im back to the surgeon on Thursday so will keep you posted with any other advice. Im just concerned that I get lymphodema so Im trying everything I can to keep it at bay. Hope yours clears soon xx
Hi I’ve had much of the same. My lumpectomy scar has been fine and although the lymph node biopsy scar isn’t as neat it seems to healing well. However the numbness in my armpit and the tenderness at the back of my arm is still here 18days later. I’m still struggling to raise my arm right up or put any weight on that arm. I wondered if this is normal. My follow up is on the 8th Jan
Happy Christmas Mumpsy
so sorry you going through this
I had lumpectomy and ymphe node removal 8 weeks again and still have the numbness and it’s sensitive ( bit like my arm is being rubbed with sand paper) my doctor said it can take months to go.
hope it eases soon for you - are you still doing the exercises ( I’m assuming you were given the sheet to follow? )

Hi Dizzydoo , agree re feeling like being rubbed by sandpaper, I likened the feeling to a carpet burn. Took a good while to go, but it did eventually. Likewise my arm movement took ages to get back to full mobility, I was so delighted when I could once again undo my bra behind my back! I wonder if they don’t warn you because some people don’t get the same effects. I think it really depends a lot on the length and depth of the incision (my surgeon used one long one to access the ‘beast’ and the sentinel nodes) and also the position. And definitely keep up the exercises! Love and hugs, HFxx
