Hi all,
I have been on Letrozole tablets 2.5mg for about one year now following chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions.
Does anyone have any experience of the side effects (my legs ache and my fingers feel stiff first thing in the morning).
Thank you all and compliments of the season to you all!
Hi
i had my surgery in July2022 lumpectomy and node clearance then radiotherapy and have bisphosponate infusions six monthly . I have been on Letrozole for 16 months and the side effects are really difficult . I am 71 years old and had mild arthritis before my cancer diagnosis but the pain now is very bad . Mainly in my hans, wrists , ankle and front of feet . I have started to wear a splint at night as my fingers keep locking ( obviously carpel tunnel which I believe can be a side effect of the tablets ) . The pain has been worse now the weather has gone colder and damper . I do all the stretching exercies at least twice daily and walk and to avoid lymphoedema in my arm where the nodes were removed I massage gently with a baby brush twice daily . All advised by the breast care nurses. My eyes are dry, I itch and have dryness down below all relieved by cream and drops from the doctor.
My doctor has stated on my prescription that I am to have the Accord brand only Letrozole which seems to agree with me the most. My hot flushes are now almost non existent.
the pain is my main concern and nothing seems to help . I don’t want to try another tablet as Letrozole is apparently the best one for my age and type of cancer to hopefully keep it away……. Only another 8,5 years to take it.
my Doctor gives me acupuncture which does help for a few days after treatment.
It’s not an easy journey .
I wanted to share my experience with you but please talk with the doctor as your situation might be completely different from mine.
I wish you luck and hope you get some help.
kind ragards and hugs
NannaJ
