Hi everyone.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar thing with their EC Chemo? During my 1st and 2nd EC treatments I had no reaction whatsoever. Then on Friday I went for my 3rd one and about 5 minutes in I started to feel really strange and light headed. I thought nothing of it as I hadn't had a bad reaction before so didn't say anything to any of the nurses. Well that was a bad idea! 10 minutes later I could hardly talk because I was confused and was on the verge of passing out. My throat started to get dry and swell up. Luckily the nurses were quick and administered all the right drugs. Within about an hour I started to feel normal again. I'm waiting to hear back from my oncologist as to whether they will try again with the EC or go straight to Paclitaxel.
Has anyone else had anything similar happen to them?
Thanks
Hia! Not with EC but i had a reaction during the start of my 2nd docetaxel session… red face/ breathless ..after 7 mins of starting!.. they stopped it immediately & had some antihistamines then restarted half speed and it was fine! They gave me extra pre-meds to take before session 3 & I’ve been fine for next sessions… apparently it’s due to your body starting to recognise what’s happening after 2/3rd session & it now knows it does not like this stuff so some people have a reaction…
see if they suggest some pre emptive meds?
Good luck xx
Same here.had 3rd EC a week ago last Thursday .Usually had 3 days OK ,then a couple of days feeling yuk and then pick up again .This time I had the first couple of days OK ,then all week have just felt horrible .Just so tired and fed up ,I have literally just sat in armchair all week, dozing on and off until bedtime .I have to go get PICC line flushed tomorrow and am already fretting how I will get the energy to make myself look presentable to go out.
Hi Caff1, I wouldn’t worry about looking presentable. I used to feel like crap on EC and if I had to go out I would put on my trackie bottoms a sweater and my beanie hat. I didn’t even bother with me up which is very unusual for me. Even now I sometimes just don’t have the energy to put make up on, do my wig and make myself look presentable so I just go out in my sloppies and a beanie. People may look at me oddly but I just think, well if you were going through what I’m going through I’m sure you would be the same. Take each day as it comes and don’t worry about being presentable, go with comfy and easy to do option
Wishing you all the best
