Hi All, I hope you are well. I am starting radiotherapy on the 4th December. Am I right in saying that I don't take the tamoxifen at the same time as the radiotherapy snd wait for a few weeks after then start taking them.?
ThankFizzler
Hi Fizzler, I started taking tamoxifen the day after my last radiotherapy. My oncologist prescribed them and now I just get my repeat prescription from the drs.
All the best for your radiotherapy.

This is a good article that talks about taking tamoxifen concurrently with radiation or sequentially. May help to clear this up. Your oncologist will give you his direction too. Take care and good luck with everything.

Thank you. I hope you are getting on ok with your Tamoxifen and no side effects x
Just out of curiosity how are you finding the Tamoxifen? My mood appears to be getting lower day by day and feel like I have lost my sparkle! Mood swings are awful and not sure wether to just keep going. I’m not back in work until January and hoping when back working I will have less time to think about things and life will get back in track. Not sure if it’s the combined thoughts of processing what we go through and making some sense of it all. I’m 55 and was in HRT which worked really well. I was also using the Mirena coil so no periods for over 10 years, so thought I was post menopausal, however, all my symptoms are pushing me towards menopause symptoms!
Hi Fizzler, only hot flushes mainly at night. I do get a little moody but bounce back and am like at cat on a hot tin roof most of the time.

Hi Fizzler i picked up my prescription on the first day i had radiotherapy and started taking them straight away. It was never mentioned I shouldn’t and I had no side effects. My oncologist checked I was taking them before the end of my RT so I’m sure if you’re not meant to it would have come up!
