Evening ladies. I've been given letrozole. I'm on day 3 I am so exhausted. Is this the medication, the cancer or could it be something else? I'm seeing the oncologist on 10th September to go through radiotherapy and what to expect but I'm supposed to be going back to work on Tuesday but is all I can do right now is sleep, (yet I'm constantly tired) x

  • Morning

I was very tired when I first started taking letrozole and it probably kicked in after a week or so.  I think many people find this.  I also had chemotherapy and surgery before that, so it was maybe a cumulative effect of everything  Assuming you've had surgery?  Our bodies really do take a battering.  If it seems like excessive tiredness, as you say mention it to a professional and get their advice.  I actually work from home and wonder how people get up and go out to work like normal.  Letrozole makes it very hard for me to bounce out of bed in the morning, I'm exhausted and it takes me a while to come round.  Hope you get some reassurance and start feeling better soon x

  • Yes I've had a lumpectomy and will have radiation soon. Now my joints have started hurting as well. Please tell me all this crap goes away Pray x

  • I find some joints hurt for a while, then that eases and it starts with somewhere completely different.  Soles of feet and heels for me at the minute and its painful  Can't say anything to make you feel any better, it's absolutely rubbish having to feel like we do.  I'm a year into taking letrozole now and just hope it's doing its job.  I read some people have no symptoms at all from it or they ease massively the longer they take it, so hopefully that will be the case for you.  Sorry you're feeling this way x

  • It's hard because it's invisible so people don't understand. How are you finding other symptoms? I finished with menopause arounld 3 years ago and the thought of those symptoms coming back horrifies me. Wishing you loads of love and a healthy future Heart️

  • Chemo induced menopause for me so the letrozole and menopause at the same time maybe made my symptoms worse.  Having said that the hot flushes have eased, I try really hard to exercise which improves my mobility and helps keep my weight down which I have found an issue.  The main problem is getting up in the morning, I am like a creaky old woman!  You could always try different brands of letrozole, some will probably suit you more than others, but it takes a while to figure out which ones they are x

  • Menopause is hard enough without medication that has the same side effects. I feel your pain. Yes I guess this is just going to take time to know what's right and what's not. It's a journey that none of us wanted to take x
