i had first chemo 2 days ago and i just had my first hot flush? is that normal? it was after my morning coffee....yikes, please tell me i do not have to give up my morning coffee!
I had my second chemo, two days ago and was getting hot flushes throughout the day yesterday. As soon as I started to get the slightest bit warm for any reason it seemed to turn into a hot flush. I did take my temperature at a couple of pints during the day, but it was completely normal despite the hot flushes, I am assuming it is my body metabolising everything that has been put into it! The flushes didn’t last long, but I had to actively cool myself down after each one.
did you have hot flushes after your first chemo? i guess i did not expect them to begin so soon..., i did not feel hot actually, just sweat coming out of every pore, i live in a hot country so we have air con. i never sweat like that, even with exercise. i felt cold as soon as it finished. i hope it was not triggered by the coffee.
Hi Iman, I don’t remember having hot flushes as such during chemo. I do remember having no periods I guess because the drugs affect all your hormones. I now get hot flushes as I am on tamoxifen. It might help to change your coffee to decaf and see if that makes a difference. I tend to drink decaf tea and coffee. Have done for many years and don’t notice the difference. When I was having chemo I mainly drank water or fruit juices as I didn’t really fancy hot drinks that much.

Oh no that is not good., Caffeine can definitely make hot flashes worse. I drink decaf coffee and not first thing in morning like I used to do. I drink decaf peppermint tea . I really enjoy my cup of Joe too. Hope all goes well with your chemo.

Steroids can make you flush. If you were still having periods pre chemo, it could be because chemo is turning off your ovaries. Triggers for menopausal flushes include alcohol, caffeine, sugary foods, stress and other things too. I hope they settle down and aren’t too annoying for you. They do settle with time x
