Found a lump and waited 36 bloody days for appointment, had biopsy and received the call yesterday to go back on Monday and to bring someone with me, what do i expect at this appointment will it just be the diagnosis or is. Treatment plans discussed. Any suggestions on questions I should be asking. It’s going to be a long weekend. I’ve never had mammograms before as I’m only 47.
Hi. Sorry you’re going through this. The waiting is awful. I learned a new word at the start of this, when diagnosed in March, Scanxiety. I would take someone just in case the news is not great. I was told I had cancer and needed further biopsies to check other areas of the breast. I didn’t have a treatment plan until some weeks later when I saw an Oncologist although at that first results appointment they did talk me through possible treatments. Have you been given a number if the breast care team to call? They could also tell you what will happen on Monday. X
I was given results of my biopsy by surgeon. One area benign, one DCIS. She outlined their plan based on info to date of surgery then radiotherapy but told me it could change after surgery when they do more tissue analysis, There was no change for me though as my surgery had clear margins, no invasive cells and it wasn't hormone receptive.
Hi, sorry you're going through this - I found the time you're at now the most difficult. Mainly due to the not knowing. I'm also 47 and waited 6 weeks for a GP appointment initially.
At my appointment they told me the stage and grade of the tumour (mine was stage 2 grade 3). They organised a date for surgery and explained in great detail what would happen. They also explained about radiotherapy and chemotherapy and hormone treatment tablets for afterwards. The speed and service I have received has been brilliant Everyone I've met has had the time to discuss and go through all my questions ( there are no silly questions).
Although I have learnt from this forum, everyone, even if they have similar diagnosis, seems to follow a different route.
Take time for yourself this weekend good luck for Monday.
xx
