Today i have just seen the nurse at the InHealthclinic for my biopsy results.
I was told I had Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Oestrpgen receptor Negative, the size is 10mm. They were still awaiting HER2 results.
We were told that should get an appointment in the next couple of weeks to visit the hospital and meet with surgeon etc and that a lumpectomy would probably be the way to go. Then they would decide if radiation or chemo would be next step. She also said maybe I will not have hormone treatments. Has anyone else had this result. I just need to know what it all means for me and hubby now going forward.
Hi Alison 218
i was diagnosed January this year with grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma mine had spread to my lymph nodes I had a mastectomy and all lymph. Nodes removed presently having chemotherapy, followed by radiotherapy but I am feeling fine coping well with chemotherapy , I will be on hormone tablets for 10 years, And also some other treatments. But when I met my oncologist after my operation with my results and treatment plan I asked him to take me a step at a time through my treatment . l didn’t want to know the full picture of my treatments so we started with the chemo , then he will take me through the radiotherapy and followed by what ever treatment is next.
As soon as you get your hospital appointment things will move along quickly and then you will have your plan it is a bit daunting in the beginning but you will soon settle into operations , whatever treatment you may have and before you look around you are six months down the line, take everyday as it comes and you will be fine xxx
Hi Alison218
i have the same diagnosis ER & PR negative. HER2 positive. Lump is 27mm and it is in at least 1 lymph node. I was told on Friday I would have chemo first then mastectomy and then probably radio. It’s a lot to take in and will be quite a journey. Support is out there though. Stay strong x
Hi Alison 218
It was oestrogen positive, 55 mm tumour and it was found in the lymph nodes I was told more or less the day I first had my results I was having chemotherapy and that it would be about nine months before all the treatment was done. It was a shock in the beginning but it is surprising how you go with the flow and to be honest it’s six months ago I had my operation and i have now forgot about that and learnt to live with no breast , the chemo is not nice but the same there I go get it done treat it has a job and come home and forget until the next one I had to have 12 sessions of chemotherapy over 18 weeks I got five more left to do ,
dont worry there is plenty of help and also support on here .
keep your chin up and stay positive don’t let this diagnosis get you down xx
Hi Alison
i agree 10mm is small . I had high grade DCIS triple negative but needed a mastectomy due to side of 7.5 cms! I’ve also had 5 days of radiotherapy but no chemo and no hormone treatment which I’m grateful about. I had my op mid June and still recovering. You are lucky they have caught yours early so hopefully you should have a quick recovery and able to get back to your previous self. Stay positive. They will give you exercises to do after surgery, keep doing them to get your range of movement back.
xx
Thank you BethS I am feeling relaxed and positve at the moment, just rang travel insurance an they put its start date on 2 months and said call again once I have ful details, hopefully it will all be done and dusted by then. Fingers crossed we can then book up a nice holiday for my birthday in December. X
