I've been on letrozole for 12 months and sometimes have brain fog. Just wondering if anyone else experiences this.
I will be looking for something in a cupboard and cannot physically see it. Will sometimes eventually find it and it will be right in front of me. Last night my husband found .what I was looking for after me looking there twice.
Not sure it's the pills or just getting old I'm 57
Would love to hear from anyone who maybe is going through something similar. Have a telephone appointment with my consultant next week and didn't know whether mention this to him.

Mmm it’s hard isn’t it? I take letrozole (2 years), and yes I get brain fog....remembering names is what really gets me! Is it the Letrozole?, Chemo? Stress from all the crap or just simply getting older. I genuinely don’t know, but I really do struggle some days to remember....I feel quite stupid....sorry can’t reassure you!
Hi Booby J
I think it's a combination of the tablets and getting older. As we get older our memory goes. Oestrogen reducing naturally in our bodies affects us (including memory, skin etc), but we're getting our oestrogen reduced very, very quickly, so I think the side effects of getting older happen quicker.
My friend of the same age (55) also forgets words too sometimes, so it does seem normal, but I just think we'll notice it more because it's being 'forced' quickly on our bodies. Many a time, I've had to go back and retrace my steps to work out why I went where I did, lol. But I do remember my Dad as he got older tying a knot in a handkerchief so he wouldn't forget something and then would forget why he'd forgotten he'd tied the knot in the first place.
I try games on my phone - mostly word games - to aid my concentration and I think this has helped a little.
Best wishes, Lesley
I think you are right. A combination of age and pills. We've gone through so much tbh.
I always do the Saturday crossword in the Express to test my brain lol. I remember the knit in the hanky too.
Thanks for your reply. Take care.
Hi Booby J, I’m on Anastrozole and am sure that it is a factor in my brain fog, forgetfulness and general derangement! Like lesleyhelen has said, our bodies are having the oestrogen reduced quickly and unnaturally so I feel like it’s a sort of super-enhanced menopause (not super, really!). I read an article about hormone therapy and non compliance, which mentioned general brain fog and difficulty maintaining focus as reasons why many women stop taking them. However I’ll keep popping the pills in the hope of keeping the beast at bay! Xxx
Thank you for replying. I'm going to keep popping pills for now for same reason. So annoying though, as if we haven't gone through enough. Take care.
