Hi Everyone it's s all over!
Went in Wednesday at 11am.
Got taken almost straight away with the usual checks of your name, address etc.
Got asked if I had any questions..... umpteen I told myself but no the answers I wanted had to wait till it was all over, it was the unknown as much for me as for them too.
At 1pm I got gowned up, anesthesia started and then a lovely long 3 hr sleep. The anesthesia these days brought me straight out unlike in the past were I felt they were dragging me out of the cozy place I was in lol.
By 4pm it was all over. I as taken straight to the ward (I think) as I don't remember any other room. Was given coffee and toast then just rested
About 8pm I asked for hot chocolate and toast (seems that's all they were serving) and I was hungry having fasted from 7am that morning
Anyway I slept well.
The next morning was offered just cereals all sugar or chocolate coated or porridge. I had to ask if I could get coffee and toast for which I got and was very grateful for it.
NHS is certainly cutting back and still serving food that is not in the least nourishing or helpful for any recovery.
The surgeon came to check on me . I had my bra on as instructed he prodded around the bra and said that's fine, you're ok to go home!
A nurse came and did similar!
A 3rd nurse came, the one who checked my BP and temp (which were both fine). She asked if anyone had seen my wound for which I said no. "Did the surgeon or other nurse not check it" No! So she checked and it's just as well because the operated breast was bleeding badly mixed with puss! A sure way to get an infection.
Anyway I was thankful for her diligence, she cleaned me up and re-dressed the wound and all was good.
Home via M&S to get measured for a bra and buy a couple
When home I was on a high , went for a short walk with hubby and dogs then bed rest.
Today, my 2nd day I'm pooped I'm staying put in bed till tomorrow. Very tired and my head's just not together with my body hahaha
I'm getting up to do my exercises but apart from that I'm making myself rest so I can hopefully recuperate faster.
Cheers and all the very best to anyone else going on their own journey.
