i feel lost

  • Hi   welcome to the club that no one wants to join. It’s absolutely normal to feel lost, but you've come to the right place for support and there are lots of lovely people on here so willing to share their experiences.  For me (and if you click on my name you can read my story) I found the initial days between a “probably” diagnosis and the actual results and a treatment plan, were the most difficult. Once I knew what I was dealing with, and had a plan, it all seemed so much better.

It can be overwhelming at first too, so my advice is to avoid the temptation to google and stick to reputable websites, like Macmillan.  And don't forget, Macmillan also offer a great helpline so you can chat to an expert, you can call them on 0800 800 0000. I have to admit I did that a few times in the early days, just to ask some basic questions.

I hope you're coping ok at this early stage and I’m glad you've found this forum to support you. Best wishes

  • Hi Bizkit, sorry to hear your news. This time between being told you have cancer but you don't know to what extent is particularly hard.  I found telling family and friends particularly upsetting and draining.  Trying to make others feel better whilst thinking the worst.

I find people's stories on here really help.  When you start reading them you realise that there are a lot of us going through this at different stages of the journey and importantly there are so many pathways and options open to us.  If you ever have a question someone on here can usually guide.

Seems a bit daft to say but when you get your care plan it does feel a bit better knowing things are going to be done.

Try not to Google the information can be old and incorrect.  Speak from experience on this one I sent myself into a right spin.

    Take care of yourself,

    xx

  • I felt lost in November 2021, in a similar position to you! But then I finished my treatment in June 2022, 7 months later following treatment I was back to my normal self. I had a mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and lost my hair! I know it sounds drastic, but I was relieved to know that I could be sorted out and so will you be! Once they’ve given you your treatment plan; whatever it be, you’ll do it and come out the other side. I never thought I’d be able to cope with it at all, but I did and I feel a lot stronger for it. Try stay positive and practice saying “I had breast cancer, but I’m alright now”……….. All the best to you, use every resource available to you, you can and will get through it! Love and hugs xxx
