Hi
I get my pre op assessment on the 18th this month and I can't get it out of my head that while I'm waiting for the op there's a time bomb ticking away inside me.
I wonder how quick cancer cells grow??
Hi Chisi
I felt exactly the same when I was diagnosed and waiting for treatment. It was about 6 weeks from diagnosis to starting chemo and I was terrified in that time the cancer would be spreading. Mine are grade 3, so the fastest growing cells. And the doctors assured me a few weeks waiting wouldn't make much difference.
Though it's hard, you may have to put your trust in the professionals. In my experience you can always call your breast care nurse and explain your concerns and they'll put your mind at ease x
Hi Chisi it seems an age away, doesn't it? I've seen a lot of reassurance that a few weeks won't make a difference overall in many cases, but of course I can understand your concern and we all want this removed as soon as possible. Don't forget, you can always give the lovely folks here at Macmillan a call to chat this through with them, the number is 0800 800 0000. When I was diagnosed I found them to be a great support, especially for things I didn't want to talk to my own breast nurse about, or at the weekend when there was limited support locally. Best wishes.
