After two years of letrozole and awful side effects I have started tamoxifen. I wish I had gone back on letrozole as one of the side effects I was concerned about was dizzy spells and headaches. I was sent for head scan. Everything ok. My doctor checked my blood pressure over two weeks and told me to reduce my blood pressure meds. Side effects gone. The tamoxifen is making me very tired I have taken it in a morning. I’m going to give it a couple of months see how I go. I have heart disease and u deractive thyroid any advice will be much ch appreciated xxx
It's all complicated, I have been on Tamoxifen for 3 mths my energy is variable. I am doing my best to keep going, walking, dancing, whatever I can fit in. It is a hormone blockers which will affect energy and the brain body connection. Make sure to prioritise what is most important first. I am 67 this year and have learnt to live with this. I have a friend who is 15 yrs younger than me, I do a lot more than she does.
I choose this way if life rather than risking not taking it.
Hi Figgy2019, I take my tamoxifen at night. No side effects during the day at all.
Hugs from cuffcake x x x x x
I take it with my last drink about 9 pm. The main thing is is remembering. Sometimes I literally can't remember if I have taken it or not. Insomnia or (chemo brain) Tamoxifen has a similar effect as chemo I have read. I am slower I think but embracing it. If it stops the cancer returning it's a good thing. Just been to the gym, don't go very often. I would rather dance.
Hi Sabrina22, I too find I forget whether I have taken my tamoxifen tablet. I now have a pen next to the tablets and have written on the box the days of the week. As soon as I take it I cross it off. Hey presto so far it has worked. My chemo brain is very forgetful at times and I do find myself writing lots of reminders. Hoping one day the chemo brain will go and I'll be back to normal
I'm not sure mine will, at 66 yrs I think I've slowed down a bit. I just make sure I don't waste energy in things I don't care about anymore. Hever Castle today. Anne Boleyns childhood home. Xx
Hi Figgy - interested to hear that you have had dizzy spells and headaches on Letrozole - I am 18months in on Letrozole and started with the headaches about 4 weeks ago and then dizzy spells about 2/3 weeks ago - am due to get an MRI of head very soon. The Onco does not seem that worried, however, cannot rule anything out at this stage. When I asked her if it could be a side effect of Letrozole she said unlikely. Blood pressure is fine. Interested to know if your onco said it was a side effect - thanks and hope you are doing ok
