hi

In a letter to my gp my surgeon said that i have grade 2 IDC...(which i understand)...

ER 8/8 PR7/8 and HER2 requested.

I understand what ER, PR and HER2 mean, but do not understand 'requested'.  What does it mean for me?

It does not say whether any of these are positive or negative. Does this mean they dont know yet, and the information has been requested?

Does any one have experience of this and understand what it means?

  • Hello,  Certainly understand how things can be confusing.  I can help you.  It means they have the results for estrogen and progesterone which are showing positive which means that the tumor is fed by these hormones.  The Her2 test has been requested but no results yet.  My tumor was ER and PR positive but negative for Her2.
    Take care of yourself.

  • Thats great, thank you Barbara.

  • Just to add to Hopeful Barb, your oestrogen result (ER) has scored 8 out of 8, and your progesterone (PR) has scored 7 out of 8. That means that your tumour is very hormone receptive, so you will be offered hormone therapy as part of your treatment.

Hormone-receptive breast cancer is the most common type.
