Hello I am about to start taking Letrozole. Any tis on taking this e.g. time of day. Thanks
Hi
I had to trial a few brands before I got one that suited , different brands can give different side effects , it’s the additional fillers and agents used in the tablets
I take mine at night about an hour before bed then first thing I take a Clarityn antihistamine that seems to help with the joint pain I have with letrozole
it’s kind of trial and error to see what suits you xx
I also take mine at night. Have they mentioned ibandronic acid. If you need to have that too that needs to be taken morning so that's why I take letrozole at nught.
Hi Frannie I take my letrozole in the morning as I found I got upset stomach when I took it at night. But just try and find a time that suits you better. I too have found a particular brand suits me better than others but the pharmacist is unable to get it regularly so I have a mix of brands which isn't great for me.
But some people have very few side effects and you could well be one of the lucky ones. Wishing you well with the meds.
I take mine in the evening, originally because I was taking ibandronic acid in the morning. I find one or two brands suit me better than others for lessening joint and muscle pain but the pharmacy can't guarantee the brands I want. I've resorted to ringing round local pharmacies to see if they've got any in stock. You can take your prescription to any pharmacy. Like the Clarityn suggestion, I'll try it, thanks.
I'm first thing in the morning, while I'm having breakfast and the rest of my medication. I've been ok, tend to take all of the tablets then put it all to the back of my mind! Ignorance is bliss!!
Hi, I take it at night as I thought then any immediate side effects would be when I was asleep, though not sure if that's logical or not to be honest! I have some mild aching joints occasionally but I find it I walk enough then I am generally ok. Best wishes
I’m the same. Take it at night. Stiff joints but ok the more I move.
Thanks for all the feedback. I take it at night to avoid any possible side effects as well. However I am having horrendous night sweats. Does this continue? any tips to cope with?
Hi Frannie
The night sweats are hideous aren’t they! I’ve bought 2 chillmax pillows which I keep in the fridge and pop under my head when I feel a hot flush coming on. You can find them on the JML website.
However the main thing that made a difference was asking my oncologist to prescribe a medication to counteract the hot flushes. There are several treatments they can prescribe - I have oxybutynin hydrochloride - it comes with its own side effects (dry mouth) but I tolerate that as it has reduced my hot flushes by about 60 - 70 %. Before I took it I was sleeping on top of towels and changing them twice a night as they’d get drenched in sweat. I don’t have to do this anymore as the oxybutynin has helped so much.
hope you find some relief soon xxx
