Hi
I am getting 2 weekly cycles of EC and Paclitaxel, and have just had my first round of Paclitaxel .
A friend suggested compression stockings to help circulation and prevent lymphoedema . She wore these all the time during chemotherapy, except at night . She also took low dose aspirin.
Does anyone have experience with this , or have any views on this?
Thanks
Hi Loveisallaround, sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I had EC and Docetaxel and had no problems with lymphoedema. I kept myself mobile and continued my arm exercises throughout to again help prevent lymphoedema as I had axillary clearance. I didn’t wear any compression garments and even when I had my chemo I was up an moving around during it as I always needed the loo due to drinking lots of water. I would recommend before starting something like this, especially with aspirin (as it can act as a blood thinner and may cause problems) you discuss with your oncologist and BCN. Sometimes what works for someone else isn’t always the best for oneself. It’s great to ask the question though as there maybe others who did something similar. I heard having frozen gloves and socks for feet would help with peripheral neuropathy. Unfortunately I didn’t do that and I do have some peripheral neuropathy although it didn’t start until after my last session. I did however do the scalp cooling cap and found that although I lost probably 85% of my hair it has grown back amazingly quick so I now have a full covering of hair about a centimetre and a half.
Wishing you all the best
