Hi ladies, I am 5 weeks out of 5 sessions of radiotherapy. I have noticed in the last couple of weeks the outside of my nipple is significantly darker than the non radiotherapy side. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks Sarah
Hi Rowliegirl welcome to the forum. I think from my perspective mine was the same after radiotherapy almost like a suntan but without the sun. It will go away but it will take time, but if you are worried at all about any other changes don't hesitate to let the breast team know.
Sending best wishes for you for now. xxxx
After about 5 weeks after 5 sessions I had a mahogany nipple on the treated side and a pine on the other. The dark one peeled painlessly and now 5 months on they are the same colour. Hopefully yours will sort themselves out too. I did massage them with aveeno cream twice a day to keep them moist.
Hi Kazio, I certainly didn’t lose any hair. You will have a CT scan to take measurements so they can position you correctly for each session. They will also mark you with 3 small tattoos, these are permanent but mine were so small I can’t see them. As radiotherapy was on my left breast I was told to practice holding my breath for 20 seconds, something to do with protecting your heart. You will have to hold your arms above your head, I found this the hardest bit as was uncomfortable. Then the machine moves around you, you will not be in a tunnel and although they are not in the room you can talk to radiographers. Apart from a slight sun tan I didn’t have any side effects. Moisturize lots is the best advice. Good luck to you, hope all goes well. Love from Mimosa xx
No loss of hair and no tunnel like the MRI. Lie on a table and this big machine goes around you. No pain from the treatments itself but need to moisturize the skin and stay hydrated. Fatigue can happy but I did not have that problem. I was very faithful with moisturizer as I am fair skinned and have reactive skin. All went well.
Take care.
