Hi. Does anyone have any experience of either of these. Just been prescribed these as part of ongoing adjuvant treatment. Can anyone pass on any experience?

  • Hi

I'm on Zometa but mine is given by a cannula rather than an injection. I had my second one on Monday and I have them every 6 months. When I had the first one, last December, I felt a little rough the next day but this time I didn't have any side effects.

  • Ooh I shall check then if I'm having via cannula. How long did it take?

  • I was there for about an hour. It took them a couple of attempts to find a vein that liked having a cannula put in and then the Zometa only takes about 20/25 minutes to go in. After that I had a flush for about 5 minutes. I know that doesn't add up to an hour but I've found that there's always a bit of time when the Zometa has finished going in but the nurses are busy attending to other people so I end up sitting there for a while before they realise the Zometa has finished going in. I think if everything happened straight away you could be in and out in about half an hour.

  • Hi, I’m on Zometa by infusion (takes 15 minutes to go in) every six months for 3 years.  Had my first in February which gave me flu like symptoms for a few days.  My advice is drink plenty of water before and after and take paracetamol regularly for a day or two after.  They after the first one they get easier.

im not on anestrazol, I’m on Letrozol for 10 years.  I’m tolerating that well

I wish you all the best with your treatment. Xx
