  • Hi so sorry to hear you ve joined the club no one wants to join. It's completely natural to feel scared of the unknown and going through chemo is a journey into the unknown. And it is so individual in terms of side effects etc. Some people get slammed with side effects others (like myself) don't have too bad - well at least on ec. I had 4 lots of ec and three lots of docetaxel. The first two cycles of docetaxel I was quite ill but the ec and last cycle I only had constipation and headache. You will hopefully feel less frightened once you have done one cycle - I did.

Biggest advice is don't wait until you are sick to take your anti sickness medication. And don't feel afraid to call your emergency red card oncology team if you feel rough or want advice. The first nurse I saw at my chemo unit before I started said if you feel so rough you can't get out of bed then you need to call your red card team.

    Take care xxxx

  • Hi Gotta have faith

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

I suggest that you bring something to keep yourself occupied while on the chemo ward as there is usually some waiting around and chemo can take up to two or three hours. Also make sure that you drink plenty of fluids as that helps flush the chemo out of your system.  Try to get out in the fresh air at least once a day as it helps prevent side effects and is good for your mental health.

Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment.

    Best wishes
