Hello,
I've just finished 3 cycles of EC and have lost about 70% of my hair (I've been using the cold cap). I still have a fringe, sides and back but have a big bald patch on the crown of my head. I'm starting Docetaxal in 2 weeks and I've heard this is harsher on the hair follicles. I'm really hoping to cling onto my remaining hair
.
Anyone not lost hair with Docetaxal?
Xxx
Hello, I did 3 x FEC & same as you lost about 70% in volume plus a massive Friar Tuck bald patch! I can cover it with hats/ scarves or skillful grips & Toppik!
Now in Docetaxel for 3 sessions- had round 2 last week - not lost any more hair on my head- hurrah
still cold capping with gauze in my badly piece
eyelashes & eyebrows pretty much gone now but that’s ok, expecting them back some time Kate summer
People say “it’s only hair” but it’s important to me so I’m going all the way with the cap!
let me know how you get on, I think docetaxel is so much milder on side effects / tiredness than FEC
Thank you for replying Rubberduck
That sounds very encouraging . I'm definitely going to carry on with the cold cap. I haven't actually found it too bad! I didn't feel too tired after my first 2 EC's but the 3rd really knocked the stuffing out of me so hopefully I'll have more energy on docetaxal. Good luck with your last session x
Hi. I finished my last (3rd) docetaxel 4 weeks ago. I previously had 3 X EC. I cold capped throughout. Thought hair loss was easing up after 1st docetaxel but then it kicked in strongly for number 2 and 3. Not sure if was the docetaxel or the cold cap just not as tight as it was earlier on when I had more hair.
I am lucky as had thick hair prior to chemo so whilst I have lost around two thirds to three quarters of my hair you wouldn't know unless you saw my really thin patch on top. My eyebrows are really thin now. Still shedding but it is easing up. I found I was more fatigued with docetaxel especially on number 2 and 3. But I still managed to work from home some of the time.
But everyone's different. Good luck with your rounds.
Hi Rainbowrose, I had 4 cycles of EC and 4 cycles of Docetaxel. I was told EC is harsher on the hair than Docetaxel. I lost hair whilst having EC (was bald on my crown and partly bald on the sides) but when I switched to Docetaxel my hair started to grow again. I now am 2 months post chemo and have a full covering of hair. No more bald patches at all. The scalp cooling cap has certainly helped me with the re growth and I’m glad I persevered with it.
Wishing you all the best for your journey.

I too got the friar tuck look with ec. I tried cold cap but didnt cope well so stopped after 2 and bit ec cycles. Hair started to regrow during docetaxel. I'm using faith in nature shampoo and conditioner to hopefully help regrowth.
Sorry to hear about your hair loss with docetaxal. I'll keep everything crossed that I hang onto the rest of mine. As you say everyone's different xx
Hi cuffcake2000
I'd heard that EC was harsher on the hair too. I'm really hoping to hang onto the hair I've got left and would love it if it starts to grow back on docetaxal especially as I'll be going back to work in September xx
That's encouraging to hear that regrowth started with docetaxal. I'm also using faith in nature shampoo and conditioner and keeping everything crossed xx
Hi Rainbowrose, this was my hair loss on EC - Dec to Feb and this is now. I use Faith in Nature shampoo and have also been using a hair serum from UK Lashes. They do an eye lash and eye brown serum to which have also worked brilliantly. The eyebrows I lost are now back and eyelashes are on their way to.
