Questions to ask oncologist?

Hi,

It’s nearly going to be two years since diagnosis. The hospital made a few errors which made my trust in them go down the drain.

Altho They did axillary sampling and found 2 nodes out the 6 positive with extra capsule spread, they didn’t think there was a  need for clearance.

During ct scans they found out I had a enlarged nodule in my lung. It’s been 6 months since the last scan, and I have a phone appointment tomorrow. I do want them To do another scan to make sure everything is okay…

am I being unreasonable? Do you think they will?

What other questions can I ask?

  • Hi Daisy03 I see that you have had some repiles in the awake thread and wondered if you  have you seen those yet?

  • What are they doing about the nodule in your lung. I know someone who insisted they removed all her lumps. She had a lump removed from her lung and liver. She is older than me and I'm in my 60s. When they said they were offering Palliative care her reply was ' I don't think so.'  Such a strong woman, has taught me a thing or two. She had to exercise a bit to improve her stamina for the anaesthetic.

I don't know of anything else you could say, you need to work it out with them what is right for you. I'm doing battles for my son currently, being strong when I don't feel sometime. Hope it goes your way and you get what you need. X

  • First thing that comes to mind is that if you are having any lung-related symptoms, you should report them; coughs, any shortness of breath, that type of thing (this would almost certainly lead to a scan.)

Without knowing more about your diagnosis and treatment so far and questions that have already been addressed in the past I may not be able to say anything useful, but in general I would ask what symptoms to watch for, what the plan is for the near future and further in time, and any recommended do's and don't's in order to help recovery further.

By the way, I can relate to what you were saying about trust going down the drain due to their errors.
