Good evening.
initially when diagnosed with HER2 positive invasive breast cancer, I was told 12/12 of Herceptin.
when I saw the oncologist, they now say 6/12.
Has anyone else had this?
Thanks
Hi I had 6 months herceptin and was told about the trial. My breast cancer was grade 2 er/pr positive 20mm lymph nodes clear her2 positive. I had chemo 3 x ec and 9 x paclitaxel with 6 months of herceptin. I am now on anastrazole. I am on a group and there are other women who had 6 months of herceptin. What did your oncologist say. Best wishes xx
Hi Shaz52 , my oncologist has said 6/12
based on data from a large clinical trial called Persephone which demonstrated no benefit from 12m herceptin v 6m herceptin in patients with cancers <3cm which were node negative
NICE has not updated it guidelines to reflect this trial yet but it is UK practice
I am happy with 6/12, I just needed to understand reason it had changed.
Thanks for asking x
