There is a thread already for this but its a bit old now.  I was started on Letrozole but with bad reactions.  It turned out that although I had advised I was lactose intolerant, I was given this drug which has lactose in it.  Something to be aware of if you have this issue.  It made me quite ill and I couldn't function.  After a break, I have been put on Exemestane (the only one without lactose in it).  I felt bad for a week, like I was getting a really bad cold (as it says), then aches but the worst thing is the flushes/flashes.  I can cope during the day but during the night, it drives me crackers.  Every time I turn over, bang, flush. I am persevering but wonder, and I know everyone is so different, how long does it take for this drug to settle down.  I can almost cope with the aches as I have fibromyalgia anyway, these drugs also disrupt your diabetes, no one told me that!    If I didn't have to take them, I wouldn't and have seriously considered, already, stopping.  I want a better quality of life.  Would like to hear other people's experiences.  thanks

  • I chose not to go on letrozol as the percentage was only 1.5. I was allready having horrendous hot flushes and nightsweats so I knew it could only get worse. It was about life balance. I also went on HRT after a lot of research. I have just had my 1st year mammogram and MRI and am happy to say I have the Allclear.

I hope things get better for you. X
