Hi,
I recently had a lumpectomy and ANC (10 days ago) and the pain seems to be getting worse not better. Particularly in my my upper arm. Am doing the exercises advised but feel reluctant due to the pain. On regular painkillers but don’t feel they help much.
anyone else in this position?
many thanks
Moobloo
Hi Moobloo, I am having exactly the same problem after the sameprocedure. I spoke to my Nurse on Friday about it because, like you I was worried I was doing more harm than good. The exercises left me in tears. She recommended I gently massage the upper arm which feels painful and deadly numb but gentle massage has helped. Also, try not to overstretch when doing the exercises, take it gently. I have improved in the last couple of days. I also find a warm flannel on the upper arm helps. Are you propping your arm up with a cushion when resting and sleeping? This also helps.
I feel for you as I know how painful this procedure is so painful.
Good luck honey, I hope you feel better soon and be kind to yourself. Big hugs
Thank you so much for your response, I will definitely try the massage and warm flannel today. So nice to hear it’s not just me!! Hope all goes well for you xxx
Good luck, be gentle with the massage just soft up and down and gentle squeeze. It hurts a little but i found it helps. Hope you ate feeling better soon xxx
Hello. Yes me too! Had lumpectomy and lymph node removal 2 weeks ago today. My boob is ok pain wise but under my arm is painful and has a lump about the size of half an egg. I am receiving a call tomorrow with further test results and am going to mention it although I've read online this is quite normal unless the scar weeps or becomes inflamed. Hope you feel much better very soon xx
Hi Dottykc,
Dont be surprised if you get shooting pain in your affected boob! It’s normal but I didn’t know about it so was quite scary (nerves coming back to life)!! I’m doing cold packs and warm flannels for my upper arm now, seems to help a little.
Take care
Moobloo
Hi, the lump under my arm was quite pronounced when my dressings were removed at 2 weeks. The nurse told me it was most likely seranoma and would go down in time. I'm now nearly 4 weeks post op and it's loads better.
I found sleeping on my back helped, and there was one bra which was too high into my armpit that I've avoided wearing as I felt it was putting pressure/rubbing in the wrong place.
I was told I didn't need to wear a bra at all if I didn't want to so I only wore one if going out, hope I wasn't given the wrong advice
