Hi,
I'm 32 years old and have just been diagnosed with breast cancer, I start chemo in about two weeks, which I'll be doing for about six months (immunotherapy alongside) and then hopefully surgery and then radiation.
The cancer itself is triple negative, grade 3, and my oncologist said it might be matrix metaplastic. The tumour is 3cm and looks to be spread to about 4 lymph nodes from scans but I need another biopsy to confirm this.
I asked how it being metaplastic cancer gets verified and my oncologist said she will look into it with the pathologist.
Googling it is quite scary though, does anyone have experience or information on this type?
I think I assumed that because I'm quite young for breast cancer it would be straightforward to get cured but now I'm not so sure.
Any info or experience would be super super appreciated.
Thank you x
Hi Hamlet
Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Try not and rely on google for your information on triple negative as the information on there is out of date. Instead rely on sites like this one and breast cancer now for your information. Breast cancer is very treatable as it's one of the most researched cancers particularly triple negative and they keep coming up with new and better treatments all the time.
I was diagnosed with Grade 3 triple negative over two years ago. My tumour was just slightly smaller than yours and was also in some of my lymph nodes. I had 8 cycles of chemo, four of AC and four of Taxol. My tumour responded very well to chemo, I had an almost complete response. I had surgery just over two years ago to remove the remaining cancer and I had radiotherapy and a further 8 cycles of chemo in tablet form. I finished treatment 18 months ago and have been cancer free ever since.
There is a forum for breast cancer patients under the ago of fifty which you can also join to get advice and support. Here's the link: (+) Breast cancer for the under-50s forum - Macmillan Online Community..
Wishing you the best of luck with your treatment and with your further biopsy.
Best wishes

Hi,
I can't comment on the type of cancer as mine was different (er and her2 positive) but I was diagnosed at 34 and understand the shock of going through this at a younger age. Sounds like you are at a difficult stage and waiting to find out a lot and I think that can be the most challenging time. I hope you get clarification on everything soon. Good luck.
How are you doing Hamlet? I was diagnosed as triple negative on 7th March and I’m now having to wait for a further MRI before starting chemo as they think there might be something on the liver. Not easy.
The plan for me is to have six months of chemo with surgery to follow and then I assume radiotherapy.
By all means keep in touch xx
