Can anyone share their experience with abemaciclib. I am on 4th week and still suffer with bouts diaorrhea, fatigue and general unwell
Hi Becky05 there are a few of us on here that are taking Abemaciclib so hopefully others will be along to share their experience too.
I’ve been taking it for nearly 15 months and feel really well now. Diarrhoea was the main issue in the first 2-3 months and while completely unpredictable at first, I did manage to work out how my stomach was feeling and took Loperimide (Imodium) which controlled it ok. I had a dose reduction after 5 months because my neutrophils were low and going down to 100mg made a big difference to my stomach and my energy levels. Have been on this ever since and (whispering!) everything seems to be fine.
Drink plenty of water and rest when you can. I found that some gentle exercise (walking, yoga) really helped my energy levels. Keep your medical team informed of how you’re feeling so they can respond and help you.
Best wishes xx
I’m on my third week and I am very tired some days. Had diarrhoea 5 times - less than I expected - and loperamide sorts it out - I eat unhealthy food after a bout (I normally eat really high fibre healthy diet) which also seems to help. It’s nothing like as awful as I was expecting but I am hoping the diarrhoea settles- I’m keeping a diary every day so I can see any patterns - I think it’s getting less frequent …
Hope you start to feel better and get less diarrhea. I have seen about the side effects on YouTube video. I wonder if white rice would help the diarrhea. I have IBS with diarrhea and if I get a flare up I go to the peppermint tea and white rice. Usually eat brown rice as much more healthy but the white one works better for the diarrhea. Wishing you the best as I know some of these medications really disrupt the body but does get results.

Hi, I'm on cycle 7, the main issues for me have been stomach cramps, diarrhoea, loss of appetite & fatigue.
They tell me not to eat fibre, so white rice, pasta etc & not to much fruit & veg, it's a real change to what you would normally eat as a healthy diet. It helps with not stimulating the gut too much.
Plenty of rest, gentle exercise & pacing myself help.
Hope you start to settle a little but I think these side effects are common & the least worst
Best wishes x
