Hi all, i was diagnosed with ER+ grade 2 breast cancer in May 21 which had spread to my limph nodes. Had lumpectomy and lymph nodes taken out, followed by 8 rounds of chemo and 15 rounds of radiotherapy. Its a year now since radiotherapy finished. Had various dramas with Letrozole and biphosponate treatment but am now on tamoxifen and stopped the biphosponate. Gradually starting to feel more human but now have an incredibly itchy breast. In the scheme of things its obviously not the end of the world but very irritating. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thank you
Hi, I wonder if it's a side effect of the radiotherapy, might be worth mentioning it to your nurse. Best wishes
Thank you. Re Letrozole, it badly affected my joints especially my hands, on my left hand my thumb and middle finger started to dislocate randomly, initially at night and then my thumb started to dislocate during the day. I was taken off Letrozole for 3 months and started to improve a bit so started Tamoxifen last August. I still have joint pain but its nothing like as bad as on Letrozole. My oncologist was keen for me to stick with letrozole as apparently its more effective for me. But i went for quality of life. I had my first injection of Zoledronic acid last April. I was ok for a few days then started to feel fluey which is a standard side effect. Then both my knees swelled up to the extent I couldn't walk or bend to sit down or stand up. I ended up in A&E, they decided it wasnt an infection and sent me home to wait it out. Took ages to calm down. Again i decided not to have any more injections. I was supposed to have them 6 monthly for 3 years.
I’m on a weekly alendronic acid tablet and letrozole plus Adcal. I tried the swap to tamoxifen but fatigue was massive, plus blurry vision on day 4. back on letrozole but just my usual achy legs and feet. Not noticed any issues with alendronic so far, week 3.
I have exactly the same itching in the area where i had lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Its particularly bad when i get warm. My consultant explained its the damage to the cells from radiotherapy and it may not improve. I have hydrocortisone cream for when it starts to itch to try and stop it getting any worse and i use cetreban twice a day. Its does help. Good luck x
