Hi all,

I have been taking Letrozole for a month now and noticed that my hair has gone very thin. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what’s the best shampoo and conditioner to use to rectify the problem.

  • Hi

I m taking Letrozole my hair has definately got thinner I now use Plantur 39 shampoo and conditioner most of the time I got mine at Wilko a bit cheaper than Boots but it lasts a long time as only need a tiny bit each time hope this helps x

  • Thank you I had heard of Plantur and will try it. Has it helped you?

  • Yes it definitely has my hair is fine anyway I've also started using a tangle teezer and there's not quite as much coming out when I brush it when it's washed x

  • Mine has always been fine and thinned out at times. I have just bought some Trevor Sorbie Thicker and Fuller shampoo and conditioner. My Mother used to use us and she had very fine hair. Got mine from Amazon. I find it hard to know if it the stress of a cancer diagnosis and all it entails as well. None if it's good for the hair. Hopefully it will improve over time. Xx

  • Hi you all,  I agree about the stress of cancer diagnosis causing hair issues.  My hair has always been very thick and wavy.  However about 3-4 months after cancer diagnosis my hair was coming out in bunches.  When I combed it there would be so much hair loss and when washing it was awful.  I saw my dermatologist for something else but we talked about it and I told him I thought I had telogem effluvium and he said probably yes.  It is a temporary condition but now I think my hair is thinning from the Anastrazole.  Can’t seem to win.  That seems to cause an almost androgenic type hair loss too.  I splurged at Christmas and bought myself the IRestore helmet.  It has all sorts of red led lights in it snd supposed to help androgenetic hair loss.  We will see.  I have been using it a few months snd I think my hair is not shedding like it was.  I will keep you all posted snd happy hair growing.

  • That sounds a good term to quote trelogem eflu. were you a medic or something? I had hair loss in my 50s quite dramatic. I have been seeing a Trichologist annually. In some ways at this stage the hair is secondary for me. Going back to the clinic in Friday to check the other breast. Still think it might be paranoia. Have a good day all. Sun putting in an appearance.

  • I am retired nurse but watch Dr Dray a dermatologist on YouTube and always learn so much from her.  No nonsense and used so many drug store brands snd not all the high end products that probably don’t work.  She has some good shows on hair loss and that is where I saw the IRestore helmet for the first time.
I am pretty sure I had that telogen effluvium.  I love that term as it sounds awful.  It is but hair grows back after all.
Hope all is well with the other breast.
