Hi
Im just back from measuring scan for radiotherapy. I was able to do the 20 second hold so will go down that route. I’ve been booked in to start in 3’weeks time. This seems long to me. Has anybody else had this waiting time? Xx
Hi Eva
Thanks for reply. I’ve just looked it up and they say 4-6 weeks so guess I’m just outside by a few days. I forgot to ask about the creams. Did you use any and did you put it on before treatment xx
I had my planning scan on the 16th Feb, which was 11 weeks post op. My 5 day radio starts on the 15th March - so a month wait, which will also make it 15 weeks post op. I just hope that this isn’t put back due to the Junior Dr strike. I can’t do anything about all of this, so am going with the flow.
Hi Joules
Think you’ll be fine. Radiotherapists doing the work. I finished chemo just over 3 weeks ago so it will be around 6-7 weeks post chemo . I think you’ll be fine. I’m having 15 rounds. Good luck xx
Mine was 10.5 wks after my op. Local pressures affect times I think. X
Mine was a three week gap - I think it’s normal. They still have work to do in that time I think and peer reviews of plans but there is an expert on here who might reply in more detail.
Hi Tracey. I used aveeno moisturiser that I got from Boots. It was recommended by a few ladies on here. I didn’t tend to use it before a radiotherapy session but used it at night. The advice is not to use oil based moisturiser. I found it realky helped to lie on the bed with my arms above my head. During treatment my arms and shoulders ached towards the end. After second day I took two paracetamol before radiotherapy as my arms/shoulders ached and I didn’t want to tense up. This worked for me. I did breathe hold too. Hoped it goes ok, it is such a relief when it is finished, something else to tick off.
Hello, 3 weeks is about right. I used Aveeno moisturiser as well. Can buy it from Superdrug & Boots. Used it after my appt. Keep it in the fridge & it will feel good when you put it on your skin & help to cool it. The Radiologists will look after you. Wishing you lots of luck with your treatment xx
Hi Eve
Thanks for information. My Oncologist wrote on my letter E45 and Abeeno for some reason I thought they might mention it today but if it’s for after maybe they may after my first session. I had my last chemo just over 3 weeks ago and am still struggling with fatigue so am glad for the break just wanted to know if it was the norm. Yeah I’ve got 15 so long way to go yet but am glad I did breathe hold. xx
I meant practice arms above your head prior to treatment. My previous post seemed a bit random, sorry. Remember to drink plenty of water before and after treatment to help offset the tiredness. My boob was a bit tender for a few weeks but soon felt ok again.
