Hello,
After my Mastectomy in Feb I've been given the all clear. Oncology have given me my Tamoxifen and talked about the benefits and also highlighted the side effects. Knowing some of these. I'm anxious to start the first tablet. Can anyone please share their experience of taking Tamoxifen? Thankyou
Hi
I took tamoxifen from dec2013 to dec 2018 when i moved onto aromatase inhibitor Femara. I never knowingly had any issues at all and im due to finish Femara this december YAY. i do have vaginal dryness now but not sure if that is attributable to femara rather then tamoxifen or maybe just 10years of hormonal treatments will do that to you.
There are always risks, do the benefits outweigh risks?? only each of us can decide. :)
Thank you for responding and sharing your personal experience
I have been taking Tamoxifen for four months, first couple of weeks I had a few hot flushes and painful knees. Swapped to a different brand after 2 months and had a creepy crawly feeling on the top of my head which can be a menopause symptom. I was really anxious before taking the first tablet but it all seems to be going really well. I hope you find taking it ok too.
Thank you for sharing your experience with me. That's made me feel a little less anxious. I know it's different for each person but I just wanted to know how others are finding the medication.
I took it for 6 weeks as a temporary measure until I could be put into menopause and change to Letrozole. I hardly noticed it - a little hot at night sometimes and my knees were stiff but they had been like that since chemo. It wasn’t bad at all for me - I know everyone is different - worth giving it a chance for the benefits
I’ve been on it for 4 weeks now. I cried the night before and the first day I took them, I was so anxious about side effects and the ext 10 years. All I’ve had are a couple of hot flushes and the odd ache around my knee but other than that all is good so far. I find walking has helped me physically and mentally x
Hi I have been taking tamoxifen for 2 years now I have hot flushes mainly at night but since I have reduced my coffee intake in the evenings they have been alot less. I don't sleep very well and have pains in my joints but I have had them since chemotherapy and I have had thrush a couple of times but nothing sinister hope this helps regards Belinda .
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is very helpful.
