Hi everyone. Results and treatment plan decided today.

Primary BC stage1 Grade2 oestrogen sensitive and Hers2 negative. Lumpectomy booked for 28thMarch followed by radiotherapy and meds.

As long as sentinel lymph nodes and margins clear. So another 2weeks wait for results after surgery.

If not clear then more surgery.

Am feeling ok about it. But sure I'll have few hiccups along the way.

  • That is almost identical to my diagnosis.I finished radiotherapy in November and now just on Anestrozole. Just take each day as it comes and be kind to yourself. Before you know it you will be at the end of your treatment. Good luck!

  • Hi thanks. Can you tell me if the lumpectomy has left your breast misshapen., Or much smaller. Not sure how it will look after. X

  • Hi Travelling Lady, I had a lumpectomy last October and I wouldn’t know as it looks the same as before. Even the scar around my nipple has more or less blended in with the colour of the edge of the nipple. My surgeon is an oncoplastic surgeon. I saw her today for a follow up and she was really happy with the healing too.

  • Hello,  Like Evajean mine stage 1 grade 2 ER and PR positive 100% in left breast but also had DCIS in right one.  Had lumpectomy in each breast and then radiation to both and now taking anastrazole for 5 years.  I found that they actually took more tissue from my breast with DCIS but I am happy with how they look.  Can’t really tell that I had lumpectomy on left one except for scar on outer breast.  Right breast the surgeon did incision partially around the nipple so really don’t see scar.  I am small breasted so was worried how it would look.  Only a 34A.  Easier if you have bigger breasts I would think unless tumor is large.  Hope all goes well.  It is good you will be having surgery in March.  You need to wait until incision is healed before radiation and here in US usually wait at least 4 weeks post op before radiation and that is if there are no complications.  Just ask away with questions as many of us have been down the same road as you are on right now.

  • Hi Hun thanks that has put me at rest a little bit. I'm a good size 36c and BC only small. So sounds like I'll not see much difference thanks. Xx

  • It isn’t mishapen, mine was to the left side of my left breast. There is just a very slight indentation, barely noticeable. I think they try and make the breast as normal as possible, and reshape it during the op.  My left breast has always been larger than right one so nothing changed really.Don’t be alarmed at how your boob feels after surgery. Mine felt so lumpy for weeks afterwards but now, some five months post surgery is almost back to how it was.I can feel slight thickness where tumour was removed. Scar is lovely and smooth.  Just remember to give your body time to recover and keep moisturising and doing your exercises.

  • Thanks sweetie. It helps talking to people that have been through it. Get the truth about how things are. Hope your doing well. Xx

  • My lumpectomy side was always a bit smaller, it is a bit smaller still now. It looks ok when I am dressed. I bought some special bras and got a little insert for when I am dancing and wearing tighter clothes. Just having radiotherapy now.

Mine is grade 2 and stage 2. I just want to live again in a similar way to before. It's a process though. We are changed I think forever by our experiences and this is no different. We haven't go e through all this to stay sad. I feel lucky to be in the treatment group.   I'm the one in purple, this was Christmas 21. X

  • I think it all depends.  My lump was only 13mm, diagnosis same as yours.  It was quite superficial and an inch or so above nipple so they took quite a lot of the surrounding tissue away, 5cm worth.  Surgeon says appearance will improve with radiotherapy?  I’m a little uneven but not that noticeable.

  • Thanks. I agree we just want back to normal life ,but BC changed how you look and feel. But we are all going to be survivers. Xd
