Hi all , my 35 year old daughter has just had her first chemo four days ago but today she looks yellow in the face is this a normal reaction she has stage 3 breast cancer

  • I don’t know but yellow suggests liver.  I wonder if you should call 111 for advice.

  • There are many reasons why this could be and it could be nothing but it is a symptom she should raise with the hospital asap. She should have been given an emergency number, on a red card, if she is otherwise feeling well she should call it in the morning (I’ve found calling it at night can be bit hit and miss) but if you are concerned in anyway call it now, especially if she has a temperature too, they will advise, all the best to her and to you xx

  • Thank you for your reply

  • Thanks for your reply Yes I know it can mean the liver is struggling she feels well, going to give oncology a ring , just wondered if anyone else had this while on chemo

  • It’s not something I experienced or have seen on here or at the hospital but that really doesn’t mean it isn’t common, only a small number of BC patients are posting really in the grand scheme of things, did she get hold of some advice? X

  • My Mother looked sallow when she was anaemic and her liver when affected by something. Weekend isn't a great time to get help, if she's well maybe Monday might be better. 111 have access to Drs but they aren't always the ones with the answers. Oncology should have some sort of our if hours number I would guess.

  • Thanks for your reply, as she not so yellowish this morning going to way till Monday now less anything changes

  • Thank you for your reply, we’re going to wait till Monday now unless anything changes we have got a emergency number for oncology if needed

  • Hi there

I had a tanned / yellowy tinge to my skin during chemo , it would start in the days after infusion and then fade away until the next time , my bloods were ok
If your daughter is very yellow or it’s affecting her eyes etc too then that might be different but my oncology nurse says people can sometimes get a “ chemo tan “ which looks different in different people

I hope you can get an answer tomorrow

I hope she’s doing as well as possible and we are all here if she ever feels she’d like to chat too

    L xx

  • Hi , thank you for your reply, she is a much better colour today it didn’t effect her eyes at all they steyed white , hopefully just like you said a chemo tan , she is still trying to come to terms with it all at the moment maybe in time she will come onto the forum
