Any February chemo starters out there? I am starting on the 3rd feb for 3 rounds of EC and then 3 of docetaxel. Would be nice to share the "journey" with someone.
Hi Lib. I’m officially a January starter but my first session isn’t until the 28th and I will be on 3 x EC and 3 x docetaxel like you. Are you coldcappjng? I’m going to give it a try.
I am going to give it a go. Hoping my long thick hair isn't too much of a challenge for the cap. Having a portacath fitted tomorrow. Makes it all feel so real.
Morning. I am sure you are right. My breast CNS said that a lot of patients say that by the time you get used to it all you are half way through. I am holding on to that and before we know it will be summer and we're done.
Hi Riseandshine Libwithlob Riseandshine I’m part of the January starters group, you might find it helpful to add some details to your profiles (click on other peoples names to read them) about your cancer journey so other ladies reading know how better to relate as they may have similar experiences grades of cancer etc. We’re also having a girls cancer chat this evening at 6pm so friend request me if you are interested. I wasn’t originally going to try the cold cap because of my history of migraines but I decided to give it a try at the eleventh hour and I have managed it for this past 2 weeks fine. So it’s definitely worth giving it a try at least once. I took a couple of paracetamol an hour before and another couple half an hour in for back up. Take a soft flat hair band with you to go over your ears/forehead. (I wasn’t that organised because it was such a last minute decision for me the night before, but I had an old pair of fine t-shirt fabric tracky bottoms so I cut a strip of the bottom leg which has worked fine I’ve got long hair which I’ll cut to a short style to donate to the little princess trust, so let’s see how it all goes. Thinking of you all on your journey
Hi Lib
I’m coming up to chemo 8, my last one. 4x EC and 4 dox. I have capped each time. It’s very long with the EC but a lot shorter with the dox. I cut my hair short xmas eve and am happy that I do not have any bold patches. Everyone I have spoken to on this medicine loses all their hair. For me it’s been a success as I am not bold. It’s definitely worth it. I think people are more shocked at the grey than the haircut.
Good luck xx
Hello I see my Med/Oncologist on 6th Feb and think it’ll start pretty soon after that - my bod has been recovering after breast conserving surgery. Positive support & encouragement for each other would be a GREAT idea
Been following Jan 2023 Chemo Starters
Name’s Kerry nice to meet you all
- I have shaved my hair as it’ll be simpler to take care of while dealing with side effects (sfx)
