I’ve been taking Letrozole for 3 months now and have not had any bad side effects, just the odd hot flush occasionally. Just picked up my 4th prescription and was surprised that instead of the sun brand, I’ve been given Accord with no explanation. I’m now worried that I will start to have worsening side effects by changing brands. Is it normal for pharmacists to keeps switching brands I’m wondering. Has this happened to anyone else on Letrozole please? Should I query this, and who with?
I am also on the Sun brand, I intend to phone the pharmacy once my prescription is sent, They said they would order the Sun brand for me. Let me know how you get on with the accord brand, ingredients are supposed to closer to the original femurs brand
Hi Gardinia, Ive been taking the accord for 3 weeks now and I find it better than the sun brand which caused a lot of nausea. No nausea now but still have minor aches in hips after sitting, this clears once walking. I feel generally better on the accord brand so I put a note on my repeat prescription for the Accord brand and just collected it and “success” requested honoured! You may find it better but there’s no guarantee in all this as we all know. Good luck. Hope all well with you, take care. M x
I have to say on previous posts on here, I do believe I read that the Sun brand has a lot of 'E' colouring that can make effects of taking this tablet worse. With regards to the Accord brand I have heard/read that the Acord brand is the closest, if not the same as the founding original generic tablet Femara.
I hope this helps xx
That could be explain nausea with sun brand. I was ok on sun brand apart from nausea but would have continued with it. Now that I’ve been on accord the nausea is no longer present. So it’s a thumbs up from me for accord.
I think you are wise with the Accord - I know we are all different and many of the ladies have had varying side effects.
I can say, I think I have minimal, although I do suffer with a lot of tiredness - but, if I am honest I had this before - so I don't think it really is the tablets fault.... one think I did have is 'trigger finger' .... in both thumbs - one after the other.... that was strange even laughable now, it just happened one night, I was alseep in bed and my thumb suddenly 'locked' in a bent position, it woke me up and I instinctively pushed my thumb straight... a very strange event.
I asked my doctor what I could do.... my family doctor told me to 'just don't bend your thumbs'.
My BC Consultant said to give it time and if it didn't clear I could have an operation!
I did the usual Google and found some tips on how to treat at home and after a few days it did clear up/disappear as quick as it came.
xx
Trigger finger sounds frightening. I’m a pleased for you that it went away. Thanks for letting me know as should it happen to me then I won’t panic knowing that it can go away. All these things are part of a journey we are all experiencing, I’m still getting my head around being a cancer patient. I’m trying to move forward with positivity. If it was as just the Letrozole I have to take Id feel I was out the other side but I’m now about to start Abemaciclib and the side effects are frightening me so much. I wish you well. M x
