Hi, I had my first session of EC today and it seemed to all go well. Now I'm back home I'm feeling a bit sicky and "odd". It feels a lot like the anxiety symptoms I get but how can I tell? Trying to work out if it's the start of side effects or just psychosomatic. Anyone got any suggestions?

  • Hi

could be either or both to be honest .  I’d take the anti sickness tablets  regularly, better to preempt any nausea instead of trying to treat it  and have plenty fluids too , that will help flush it all through

well done lovely , first one done White check mark xx

  • Hi

First well done for getting number one done. All very daunting but ticking them off helps. I had my first FEC on December 13th last year. It's not the best of times but best get on with it. Are you doing the injections from day one for 5days? That felt very strange but you get used to it. Did you cold cap? I didn't and my hair lasted till New Year. I did get a flushing went very red on my trunk but died down after a few days. We are all different and react differently. Keep taking the meds you are given they do help.i will say the steroids stopped me sleeping but anti sickness worked well. I did need to take something for constipation so be prepared and drink plenty. Good luck with it all and this sight is really helpful much better than Google

    • Hi LittleBrownCat, I had my first EC yesterday too. I did get a fright as I hadn’t realised they were already putting the red drug in and when my nurse checked I looked and thought my drip was going the wrong way and blood was coming out. What a wally I felt like but it did make us laugh. I felt ok whilst having the chemo then at the end I felt a little tired. I did the scan cooling cap. Very strange sensation. Had some paracetamol to help and was offered a light sedative too but I didn’t take that. Today I feel drained but it’s different to the drained from lack of sleep. If you can take the tablets as they prescribed it will help with the sickness or if they don’t seem to call your helpline ( you should have a 24hour number) and have a chat with them or your breast care nurse. The staff on the helpline are great and can put your mind at ease. I have anxiety issues and they are brilliant at being able to help and advise with any of the systems you feel.
    • Wishing you all the best for your chemo journey.
