Hello!
I have had 6 rounds of neo-adjuvant chemotherapy, including 3 injections of trastuvumab and pertuzumab for the last 3 rounds, followed by surgical removal of 2 breast tumours and one sentinel lymph node. Because the latter still contained active cancer cells (and NOT a complete pathological response), it has been suggested that I go onto a course of chemo+herceptin , as well as radiotherapy. I've looked up 'Kadcyla', which I THINK is what is meant by chemo+herceptin, and frightened myself silly with the idea of 14 rounds of chemo! I struggled through 6 rounds let alone 14! Has anyone gone through this chemo-herceptin , and if so, what were the effects for you? All responses welcomed as I don't know whether to accept this treatment .....
Hi, I’ll be having #5/14 Kadcyla next week. I had 6 TCHP, lumpectomy with 1 node still having cancer, and 33 Rads. For me the Kadcyla is nothing like TCHP for SE. I’m tired, but not wiped out, stomach is ok with occasional loss of appetite. I do feel the cold more, plus I get these weird cramps in my arms and feet. I’ve also got neuropathy in my hands and feet which I managed to avoid while on TCHP. I’ve had a dose reduction so hoping it will stop progressing, and then fingers crossed it goes away when I’m finished. I know it’s shocking to hear you’ve got more chemo, and I didn’t want to do it, but after having a good cry with kicking & screaming, I said let’s get on with it. All that being said, chances are it will be easier on you, and it gives you the best chance of capturing any stray cancer cells, plus decreases the chances of recurrence. All the very best to you
Hi jodie87
have sent answer on other thread but have had another thought it may be to check liver or kidney function I’d forgotten I had one last year after going to GP with mid back/ side pain .
I, like you had Neo adjuvant chemo pre mastectomy and like you because there was residual tumour in the removed breast needed kadcyla. I've had 4 cycles so far. As far as side effects go, it's better than before but unfortunately I have developed peripheral neuropathy badly in my feet so they have paused my treatment and give me Gabapentin. I'm scared not to have the kadcyla if I'm honest but have to trust they know best. If it wasn't for my feet I'd feel fine, everything else is manageable and nowhere near as bad as the pre op chemo. I hope everything goes well for you.

Hi yes I had left breast mastectomy 10 years ago when first diagnosed, luckily it was really important to my surgeon that everything looked good and he put an implant in my right boob to level it out I only had small boobs to start with) so ended up a 36C . Had permanent nipple tattoos at Holmfirth Helen Aldous which are 3D tattoos and very much worth it. Hope you’re ok.
