I had my third round of EC last week and I’m suffering cold chills running from my neck down my spine, upper back and arms. I feel like I have frozen ice packs on my back. It is stopping me from sleeping properly as I just feel so chilled to the bone. Extra layers or hot water bottles haven’t helped. Has anyone else experienced this?
I am cold capping but have read that this shouldn’t effect you like this.
No my tempt has remained normal every day and I’m not shivering with the sensation I am just freezing. I do have a cold but it’s getting better. I keep putting off ringing the team as I don’t want to waste any one’s time but maybe I should. Thanks for replying x
It does sound very strange. I would raise it with the team as its not something I have heard anyone else mention with chemo.
I had terrible chills with docetaxel and as I had also been put into a medical menopause with zoladex injections during chemo, I was either absolutely freezing cold and could not get a heat in me, or crazy boiling hot from hot flashes that also came with anxiety/panic attacks. The flushes were every 20 mins, 24/7. My temperature was normal too, but if you're worried then do call your BCN.
i just had to use hot water bottles and loads of layers too. I even invested in one of the long hot water bottles so I could go to bed with it along my back But I was still shivering with cold, and then intense hot flushes.

Hi ,I had EC x 6 finishing in Dec 2019 and I still swear blind they put iced water in my veins I didn’t cold cap
We’re all different so I would still get checked out by your team . I could not get warm and stil now feel the cold more than I used to ( that could be old age )
best wishes for rest of treatment
That sounds horrendous! You poor thing I bet you didn’t know where to put your self. I’m expecting to go through the menopause too so not looking forward to the hot flushes as well. I phoned my unit last night and they weren’t concerned. I was told to just keep checking my temperature and to take a covid mud test.
Yes I said exactly the same Maybe I could have tolerated it more in the heatwave this. summer!
Thank you for your well wishes xx
Hello, When I was having chemotherapy I had to put a huge fleece dressing gown with a hood on every evening- my neck was very cold, but I put it down mainly to having no hair. Hair is now growing back but still feeling the cold much more. Best of luck with your ongoing treatment. Xx
