Hi. I have just recently had a 2nd breast surgery where surgeons went in through my nipple area. It's healing well but wondered if anyone knows of any creams that I can use on it as it's rather itchy.
Pic available on request.
Thanks
Hello, Itching is no fun and as you know must not scratch. I also had lumpectomy and had incision around areola. When I went through radiation I got itchy on my breast and used procure hydrocortisone with calendula for the itch and it worked great. My skin is super sensitive so I keep my skin moisturized and never use soap on my skin. After I shower and when my skin is damp I moisturize my breasts usually with cerave moisturizing cream and so important not to use anything with fragrance. Keeping the skin moist and hydrated really helps to soothe itching. Hope that helps.

Thanks Barbra. I will have I look and see why I can get what you have suggested. I too have very sensitive skin and due to start radiotherapy soon. Not looking forward to it. Heard its like bad sunburn.
Thanks.
Hi Unlucky39, I was so worried about radiation causing my skin to get red like a bad sunburn but it didn’t happen. I did so much research before it as I didn’t want to use what the radiologist suggested. They wanted me to use aquaphor and aloe Vera. Aquaphor is so greasy and on a large area I was not a fan and I find aloe drying. So I did my research and then talked with the radiation oncologist and he said what I wanted to use was fine. Everybody has different skin and mine is sensitive and reactive. What I used on my skin were the Avene products. Used the Tolerance Extreme cleansing lotion, Cicalfate restorative protective cream and the thermal spring water spray. The spray I kept in the refrigerator and sprayed on breasts as often as I wanted to feel cool. So refreshing. I had radiation to both breasts after bilateral lumpectomies so was really happy when my skin did so well. Even the radiation oncologist was impressed with how my skin looked. My main issue was itching now and then and hydrocortisone and calendula cream worked great for that issue. I am sure there are many different creams to use and you may like what your radiologist recommends. Need to talk with them if you want to change anything and get ok. The main thing is to be consistent. Take care and good luck.

I used bio oil after surgery but you can't use it for at least 4 weeks after surgery and you can't use it for a week or so before and another 6bweeks after radiotherapy.
Wow i didn't know that. Did they tell you ? Nobody ever mentioned it to me just to use moisturiser.
Hi Barbra
You have been so helpful, thanks again.
Hi there, Happy to share what worked for me. If you want to know about breast massage I can send you a link on how to do it after breast surgery. It is from Florida Proton and I have been doing it starting 3 weeks after my radiation ended. Radiation oncologist told me to do breast massage daily for 6 months. It helped me so much right from the beginning as I had quite a few of those irritating zinging type pains in my breasts during radiation treatment and after but once I started breast massage poof they went away for me and no more of them so very happy. My little breasts have never had more attention and my skin feels baby soft too. Let me know if you want the link.
There is also a mention of selenium in that link that it may help prevent fibrosis but I don’t take the supplement I just eat 2 Brazil nuts daily. I don’t know if it helps but I like the nuts anyway.
Take care of yourself and every day is a positive one. When I was going through radiation I tried my best to think of that big machine as my best buddy looking and destroying any cells that didn’t belong in my breasts .
