Hello, it’s the middle of the night as I write this. I’m pretty scared. Today I was told I have a 100mm grade 3 invasive tumour in my breast. It has spread to 4 lymph nodes by my cT scan is clear. I have been told that I need chemo and will be getting a mastectomy.
I have not been told what stage I am and I have yet to meet with an oncologist.
can anyone tell me if this is survivable? What are my chances. i would really appreciate some honest advice.

  • I don't know the answers to your qestions but just want you to know that I have read your post and dont want you to feel alone.

  • Hi there same as Jem76 I don’t have the answer to your question but don’t want you to think you are on your own xx

  • Hello Teresa,  Sorry that you are going through this difficult time.  I think it is hard right now as you have so many questions and no answers.  Meeting with the oncologist should give you more information and a clearer plan.  I wish I could answer your questions but that is for the specialists.  One thing I do know are there are so many advances in breast cancer treatments.  I hope you get your appointment soon.
    You are not alone.

  • So sorry to hear your diagnosis and I know it must be so, so scary. The word invasive terrified me but the majority of breast cancers are invasive.Have they given you a date for your mastectomy?  Just know that whatever the stage, that Breast Cancer today is very surviveable. You have a hard road ahead with treatment but just keep posting on here because it really helps to share things with others who may have gone through the same as you. No matter how many people tell you to try not to worry, you will, it is human nature. You will feel better after your operation knowing the tumour has gone. Then further treatment will follow to zap any remaining cancer cells. None of us know what lies ahead but just know you are amongst friends who will support you on that journey.
    Take care.

  • Here with you, we've all been through it.  Its terrifying but so many people tell me oh I had breast cancer years ago...   focus on just getting through this.  Long road ahead so put your energy into taking care of yourself.  Big hugs

  • So sorry to hear of your diagnosis.  You will gain the strength from some where even though right now it feels your whole world has come to an end.      The ladies on this thread are right.  Breast cancer is very curable with so much advancement in research and treatment.  Wait for your oncologist appointment and you will have all the answers.   Be prepared to ask questions as ultimately it is you who decides your treatment plan ahead.

We are with you every step of the way in support and sending virtual hugs your way.
