I'm on tamoxifen for at least the next 10 yrs, im 54,....is there any one out there that can tell me what I can and can't eat, coz it's really starting to annoy me now.  We all know abt grapefruit, and turmeric, but I know there's more, just heard this weekend propolis is out of the question, and honey in moderation.....help?

  • I had no idea tamoxifen had dietary restrictions. If you're post-menopausal, is it worth considering one of the aromatase inhibiters? I was pre-menopausal at diagnosis but chose to go into a medical menopause and take an AI. Not sure if I could live without honey and turmeric, I have them every morning in a hot drink. I will bear that in mind if they offer to swap me after 5 years. Thanks for posting this info!

  • Lol I didn't know about those.  I read tangerines and camomile tea ... ffs

  • Why cannot pharmaceutical companies put on their medication what foods or supplements should not be taken. My husband wasn’t aware for years that he should not have grapefruit when taking blood pressure tablets. Just a chance conversation with a friend alerted him. Surely it should not be up to patients to discover for themselves what is not allowed. I have just started Anastrozole but am continuing taking turmeric capsules. My consultant said that was fine. Pleased about that as they help my joints. I think we are all a bit in the dark about these different tablets, just something else we have to cope with.  I will have a chat with oncologist when I go to my first appointment. Hope he doesn’t say no to turmeric!

  • Agree for sure but think medical oncologists should also be more knowledgeable and give us information.  Nothing was said at my appointments about anastrazole and I found out that low estrogen depletes choline and I am going to research and then check to see if ok for me to take.  Just get very frustrated as sometimes have to be patient and medical professional.
