Hi all, I’m newly diagnosed & just had pathology back which shows Grade 3 IDC 29mm er+ I also had extensive DCIS.
Had mastectomy but dreading thoughts of what is coming down the track next! Anyone in a similar position - I’m assuming I will need chemo but absolutely terrified of this.
thanks!
Hi Meanegg, I was diagnosed with BC mine is 28mm grade 3 too. I have found on here people have their treatments in different orders but no idea why. Anyhow I’ have to have 12 piclitaxel every week for 12 weeks then EC every other week for 4 cycles, then surgery then radiotherapy. I have to say I’ve had 2 chemo called Paclitaxel last Thursday and the Thursday before and up to now feel absolutely fine and for some reason still Have my hair. I also had a PICC line put it which is an absolute God send. The picc line doesn’t hurt and saves having any needles as you have to have your bloods taken all the time. The only advice I would give you that I think is doing me good is that I am drinking approx 3 and half pints of water each day and trying to do a bit of walking each day too. I was petrified of the chemo and I am fine up to now so I wouldn’t worry too much about it as you might be like me. Good luck from Karen xxxxxxxxxxx
Hey there, thanks for response - it’s great that you are tolerating it well.
I wasn’t expecting chemo - I thought (naively) that if I had a mastectomy then that would be the end of this nightmare! My original biopsy showed a much smaller area (5mm) so the actual extent of it has come as a shock - I had zero symptoms (discovered through screening). I am still trying to come to terms with this and am finding it hard - I hope it gets easier once the chemo starts (I find out if I am having this for sure next week)
best of luck with your treatment xxx
Hope all goes well with everything for you. One thing for sure there seems to be so many things that change during diagnosis and treatment. I am someone who likes a plan but decided that it just wasn’t that way so much of the time. You will get through this on your own terms and I am hoping for all to go well with chemo if you need it.
