Hi my name is Robyn and I’ve just started chemo treatment today I’m just wondering when the cap is removed is there something you can use to get rid of the Conditioner in your hair after the cap has been taken off T.I.A.
Hello Robyn, I used to just gently towel dry my hair and use a wide tooth comb to style it a bit after the cold cap was removed, then I put a hat on before I left the chemo unit to wear when travelling home (usually a bucket type hat, which covered up the fact that my hair was a damp mess!). Once I got home I washed my hair with very gentle, paraben free shampoo, used the wide tooth comb again and then left it to dry naturally. I did this every time I went to chemo and my hair was fine - I think that keeping the conditioner in for a while actually helped to protect the hair more. Hope that helps, and good luck with your chemo and the rest of your treatment xx
Hi, I didn't have conditioner on my hair as I'm allergic to conditioner. So you don't actually need conditioner. All it does is make it easier to get the cap on and off. They just waited for it to defrost a little at the end before taking it off and all was fine.
I realise this isn't the best thing to have to worry about when you're feeling rubbish after just having had chemo, but can't you just wash it out?
All the best with your treatment!
