Hi there
i was diagnosed with BC in May, had lumpectomy in June, was in 1 lymph node, they removed 5.
they sent it off for an Onca Score, came back 17 so they advised against chemo but said I need 20 radiotherapy treatments
I am 4 sessions in. I thought the radio would be a breeze - I have been caught up in the “only BC” conversation, no chemo etc BUT
I am finding it hard. I feel weird, light headed, sick, heart feel likes it’s racing and my breast is fed, and also seems to be really lumpy.
I don’t feel “ill” as such but I really feel horrible. I hate it.
does this resonate with anyone else. I am worried that I am only 4 into 20 sessions and I feel so rubbish already.
thanks for reading
Hi PuppyParent sorry to hear of your diagnosis and your challenges with radiotherapy. I must admit I haven't heard of this before, but there may well be some lovely ladies in here who Cana devise. Have you chatted to the R/T team about this? It’s probably worth doing that and getting their advice. Best wishes
Hi puppyparent,
I had 15 radiotherapy sessions which finished mid February.
I felt fatigued during the treatment and had episodes of nausea. I did vomit a couple of times which I think is unusual. I have read advice about upping fluid intake during treatment.
I also felt quite uncomfortable in the treated area it got quite red and swollen. All has settled now and feels like it all happened to someone else.
The radiotherapy team were great and happy to help about any concerns although these things always seem to surface at the weekend when no one is around.
Hope you get on ok with the rest of your treatment, it does pass.
Gillie
Hi Puppyparent
Sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish.
The first thing to do is make sure that you drink lots of fluids. Anything with ginger like ginger ale or tea will help to settle the nausea.
Definitely speak to your radiotherapy team as they can arrange for you to get some antiemetics to help with the nausea and get you checked over.
Its not unusual for your breast to feel lumpy as the radiotherapy will be working on all your cells and it can cause internal swelling.
I hope you feel better soon.Hang on in there xx
